Conservation Work Party - near Hardy Monument

 Clearing Barrows - Bronkham Hill

The Ridgeway is renowned for the number and diversity of its Bronze Age barrows and we are working with farmers and landowners to conserve them for future generations.  Our volunteers have been out and about surveying the condition of these scheduled monuments, and we are now bringing some of them back into good condition.

We will be returning to this site to clear scrub from Bronkham Hill, one of the largest barrow cemeteries on the Ridgeway, a fascinating and iconic landscape of burial mounds and sinkholes.  All tools and equipment will be provided, just bring yourself and a packed lunch Please note there will be a walk of about a mile to reach the work site, which is quite remote with no facilities of any kind!
