Dorset Rural Roads Protocol
The Rural Roads Protocol, adopted as formal policy of Dorset County Council in April 2008, sets out a new approach to how we manage the roads in Dorset countryside. This work was initiated by a scoping report 'Reclaiming our Rural Highways ' commissioned by Dorset AONB in 2005. The protocol's main principle is to use the local setting and distinctiveness of the rural environment to guide our road management decisions.
