South Dorset Ridgeway 2012
The South Dorset Ridgeway Partnership...
Brings together people from many interests and backgrounds in an inspiring project to learn about, care for and enjoy this special place.

Maiden Castle is one of the largest surviving Iron-Age Hill Fort in Britain, it is one of several along the Ridgeway.
The South Dorset Ridgeway is the ridge of high ground running parallel with the coast, between Dorchester and Weymouth.
When you stand on the South Dorset Ridgeway you are surrounded by some of the most spectacular scenery in England. Everywhere you look you see history in the landscape; this is one of the most important pre-historic landscapes in Europe.
The South Dorset Ridgeway Landscape Partnership Scheme takes an ambitious approach; bringing together an unlikely partnership of archaeologists, historians, landowners, artists, naturalists, teachers and, most importantly – local people, to nurture this distinctive landscape.
Although coming from very different walks of life, all of the people involved in the partnership share a commitment to look after this dramatic landscape for everyone to enjoy, now and into the future.

The South Dorset Ridgeway Landscape Partnership Scheme is supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
