Renovated fingerpost at Charminster

About the event

Fingerposts are a unique feature of the Dorset countryside but of the 1,285 fingerposts thought to exist in the 1950s, just 717 survive today. ‘Fingerpost Champions’ have been saving these fingerposts from extinction and restoring them back to their former glory. Join restoration expert Roger Bond and his team of volunteers to find out about the 100s of fingerposts restored by volunteers and have a go at preparing, painting and fixing letters to their latest refurbished fingerpost.

This event is part of our Landscape for Life Festival, celebrating 60 years of the Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

We’ve asked some very special people who live and work in this rich and vibrant landscape to share the places they love with you. Join artists, story-tellers, wildlife experts, geologists, farmers, archaeologists to uncover what makes the landscape so outstanding… and find your own place to love along the way.
