Roman Revels June 2011
This year's Roman Revels event took place at Dorchester's Roman Town House on 8th & 9th June 2011. Schools from Weymouth, Portesham and Dorchester took part in two days of workshops exploring the curriculum in the outdoor environment. The pupils took part in science, drama and creative writing activities. A storyteller was also on hand to enchant the children with the tale of Romulus and Remus. A surprise visitor, all the way from Ancient Rome arrived at lunch time to entertain the picnicing classes. The Roman legionary later marched the groups around the town house site.
A resource pack was created to support the day, with ideas for drama, storytelling and creative writing using an historic site, archaeological and reproduction artefacts. The resource is available for you to download here: Case Study: Roman Revels
